[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”pb-80 padding-box padding-full-left”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Natsu Miyata\u2019s journey to her current position as an ERP Consultant in SYSCOM Global Solutions\u2019 Business Solutions Division in Los Angeles was anything but straightforward. It started with an accounting degree (she initially wanted to be a CPA), and has led her across an ocean, through five states, and into two separate SYSCOM offices over more than a decade. She started out in our NYC office, and after excelling there, was asked to move to LA to begin our ERP servicing business on the west coast. Through it all, she\u2019s learned one important thing: sometimes, the problem isn\u2019t about what needs to change\u2014it\u2019s about the fact that change has to happen in the first place.<\/p>\n

Prior to coming on with SYSCOM, Natsu worked with a major industrial electronic manufacturer in Japan as a clerical assistant and later a project leader. \u201cThe clerical assistant role showed me ways to solve daily business problems from different angles,\u201d she says. \u201cI led a project tasked with replacing legacy internal systems built for a mainframe design with a client-server model system.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”pb-80 padding-box padding-full-left”][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12394″ img_size=”syscom_image_center” vc_none_hover_effect=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”pb-120 padding-box padding-full-left”][vc_column][vc_column_text]That project, along with her experience as a key end user of various systems and tools within that manufacturer\u2019s organization, was vital for her transition to ERP Consultant for SYSCOM. \u201cWhen facing a client who can\u2019t find a solution to meet their needs, I\u2019m able to put myself in their shoes and understand their needs.\u201d She asks herself questions from the end user\u2019s point of view\u2014a perspective she once held herself. \u201cWhat is the reason behind this request? Why do they want this or that custom feature?\u201d<\/p>\n

Natsu\u2019s personal approach to her work is informed by her history both at SYSCOM, and before it in Japan. She\u2019s walked many paths and worn many hats, and because of that, she has a wealth of real-world experiences to draw on when solving her clients\u2019 issues. She\u2019s an engineer, yes, but more than that, she\u2019s someone who\u2019s used the very software and programs she now helps people with in a multitude of day-to-day situations and knows what works and what doesn\u2019t.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”pt-120 pb-120 padding-box padding-full-left gray-d0-bg”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Sometimes, it\u2019s about helping people out of their comfort zones. People are scared of change.<\/h2>\n

ERP Consultant[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”pt-120 pb-80 padding-box padding-full-left”][vc_column][vc_column_text]And what she\u2019s found is that sometimes, the problem isn\u2019t in the software at all. \u201cThere are lots of factors, not just data. Human beings are a factor, too,\u201d she explains. \u201cIs there actually a problem with your tech stack, or do you have to change the way you do something?\u201d The best, most in depth solutions a SYSCOM engineer can come up with won\u2019t do anything if the client won\u2019t change their own behavior to implement it. \u201cSometimes, it\u2019s about helping people out of their comfort zones. People are scared of change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Natsu\u2019s comfortable with change\u2014from the outside, it looks like she seeks it out. Her ability to roll with it and take in as much contextual information as possible when addressing an issue is what makes her such an asset to our team. SYSCOM takes a similar approach to ERP work for our clients: don\u2019t be afraid to change things up, and take in information from as many sources as possible to ensure you see the fullest picture. I\u2019m empowered to tell a client when I don\u2019t know an answer, but that I know how to find it.\u201d She doesn\u2019t have to pretend to know everything, and says management is very open. \u201cThey\u2019ll make time for me and listen, and will go find the answer for me\u2014even if they don\u2019t know it themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid of change, be sure to understand an issue as fully possible, and don\u2019t be afraid to admit when you don\u2019t know the answer. For Natsu, it\u2019s the only way: \u201cIt makes me a better IT partner.\u201d It\u2019s not just Natsu\u2019s way\u2014it\u2019s SYSCOM\u2019s, too.<\/p>\n
